Nowhere else packs so much into so little space. In Europe, you can wander a Roman ruin at breakfast, cross a border by lunch, and toast the evening in a country with its own language, flavors, and rhythm. Europe travel is a study in glorious contrasts, from Iceland’s steaming volcanoes to the whitewashed cliffs of Santorini, Portugal’s fado-filled lanes to the thermal baths of Budapest. And with a dense web of high-speed trains and scenic river routes tying it all together, getting from one country to the next is half the magic.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)

What’s the best way to get around Europe?

For many trips, the train. Europe’s high-speed and scenic rail network links cities and countryside so well that the journey becomes part of the experience, no airport security lines required. River cruises are another favorite, gliding you past castles and vineyards on the Danube, Rhine, or Rhône while you unpack just once. Your advisor will map the mix of trains, flights, and cruising that fits your route best.

When’s the best time to visit Europe?

It comes down to the trade-off you prefer. Summer brings long days and buzzing energy, along with the biggest crowds and the highest prices, while late spring and early fall offer milder weather, shorter lines, and a more relaxed pace. Winter has its own magic, from Alpine ski slopes to twinkling Christmas markets. Tell your advisor what you’re after and they’ll find your ideal window.

Do I need a visa to travel to Europe?

For now, U.S. travelers can visit most of Europe for short stays with just a valid passport, no advance paperwork required. That’s changing soon: the EU is rolling out a new online travel authorization called ETIAS, expected to take effect in late 2026, and the United Kingdom already requires a separate ETA for U.S. visitors. Because the timing keeps shifting, we’ll make sure you know exactly what your trip needs, and you can confirm the latest through the U.S. State Department.

With so many languages, will I be able to get by in English?

In most places, yes. English is widely spoken across Europe’s hotels, restaurants, and tourist sites, especially in larger cities. Picking up a few polite phrases in the local language is always appreciated and adds to the fun, but you won’t need to be fluent to feel at home.
