Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
When is the “best” time to safari in East Africa?
We get this question all the time and our answer is: when you can go, where you go, and what you want to experience.
January through March is excellent for calving season in the southern Serengeti. The “short rains” are in November through December when showers are usually brief and in the afternoons. Wildlife viewing is highly productive. Kenya and Tanzania are famous for the Great Migration, roughly July through October. Fact: the Migration is year-round as the wildlife follows the food and water.
When is the “best” time to safari in South Africa?
Southern Africa’s dry season begins in May, and herds are moving from pastures to wetlands. Their movements and locations are more predictable, so predators are on the prowl. August through October is Spring; watch out May through August which is Spring. November through January is summer: hot, hot, hot! Wildlife searches for shade, and so should humans.
